Securing Major First Wave of Coverage for New Philip K. Dick VR Experience, The Great C

Adapting legendary sci-fi writer Philip K. Dick’s (PKD) body of work has become a major trend in recent years, resulting in several critically acclaimed entertainment properties such as The Man In The High Castle, Blade Runner 2049 and Electric Dreams. When our friends at Secret Location tasked us with revealing The Great C, a high-production value VR experience based on the eponymous Philip K. Dick short story, we knew we had to make PKD’s first foray into VR stand out amongst the sea (pun!) of his adapted writings everyone seems to be eating up these days.

To do this, it became immediately apparent our outreach would need to target specific sets of key media verticals spanning from entertainment to general “geek” and PlayStation-specific outlets. We, of course, also heavily emphasized VR-focused media to capitalize our highly effective “know our core” strategy that works so well with niche games and experiences.

Since The Great C is globally premiering at the Venice Film Festival this year (how frickin’ cool is that?), we specifically wanted our entertainment media outreach to include editors interested in film and to highlight its inclusion in the specialized Venice Virtual Reality component of the festival.

We, unfortunately, don’t have an AI supercomputer like The Great C at our disposal to do all our work for us, so we relied on our natural intelligence and well-researched media targets to break the news.

And from our results, it seems we don’t need to bow down to robot overlords quite yet! We locked in placements with our top targets, including major entertainment outlets Variety and Collider and the well-established tech outlet VentureBeat. To give consumers a first taste of what The Great C will offer, we secured coverage on popular geek interest sites such as Den of Geek and SYFY WIRE, platform-specific outlets including PlayStation LifeStyle and, of course, VR interest sites.

The range of coverage we landed ensured The Great C reached an invaluable set of core audiences key to bringing a VR title success. Secret Location wanted The Great C covered on everything from prominent entertainment business media that VR industry and location-based experience owners read to consumer-focused outlets that at-home VR users peruse.

This is only the beginning for The Great C! We’re looking forward to generating as much exposure as possible for upcoming details on the title, so keep your eyes peeled for more info.
