The Big Reveal – Wonacott helps introduce Disruptor Beam’s The Walking Dead: March to War

From the moment we partnered with Disruptor Beam, Wonacott Communications has been eagerly plotting and planning the reveal of new mobile multiplayer strategy game The Walking Dead: March to War.  Based on the comics’ universe of Robert Kirkman’s wildly popular Walking Dead franchise, this title marks Disruptor Beam’s third key licensed titles, building on the success of Game of Thrones: Ascent and Star Trek Timelines.

With an announcement planned tied to NYCC, the planning began weeks in advance, with extensive media research and planning.  After much collaboration to ensure all elements of the reveal would be perfect, we marched ahead with relentless media outreach, pre-pitching the news and working to secure appointments for interviews, all while making sure to keep the news under wraps until the reveal on Thursday, Oct. 7.

As a result of aggressive pre-pitching and follow-up with media, which included confirming embargo times to ensure secrecy, our regular and consistent outreach for NYCC appointments, and the wide distribution of the news once the embargo lifted, the broad and diverse coverage for the reveal of The Walking Dead: March to War would have made even a Walker hiss in delight, with articles from major enthusiast and tech outlets  such as GameSpot, IGN, Pocket Gamer, Game Informer, TouchArcade, AppTrigger, iPhone Life and much more to complement other media outreach efforts from Disruptor Beam. We also locked in media appointments at NYCC with GameSpot, Tom’s Guide and Inverse to interview with Disruptor Beam during the show.

During and after NYCC, fans and media online were buzzing about the game as they are keen to revisit the world of The Walking Dead again, especially with the season premier so close, and the comics playing a major role in shaping the content of the television series.  This is only the start of the campaign, and in the world of the Walking Dead there’s never time to rest on your laurels, so we look forward to continuing to spread the word and recruit survivors for Disruptor Beam and The Walking Dead: March to War as we build towards the game’s launch next year.
